James Levine Ph.D., LICSW provides clinical consultation, supervision and training across New England as well as nationally, including professional development for groups in New York, Boston, Washington D.C., New Orleans, Montana, and Arizona as well as through Harvard Medical School’s Continuing Education series. Dr. Levine was the founder and director of an interdisciplinary behavioral health organization for 24 years.
His primary clinical interests focus on the intersection among trauma, mental health, learning, and behavior. He works directly with clinical and teaching staff, families, public agency staff and administrative teams.
Dr. Levine’s book, Learning from Behavior, was published in hardcover, paperback, and an international edition. His book, When Trauma Grips our Children: The ‘Basic Pyramid’ System for Teachers, Counselors and Caregivers to Support Healing, was published by ABC-Clio in January 2021 and then released in paperback by Bloomsbury in May 2024. He has a parent/caregiver version of When Trauma Grips our Children coming out in the near future, with the working title of Hurting in Plain Sight: A New Way for Parents to Help Children Heal. Dr. Levine’s current project is an audiobook tentatively titled Tending to Trauma, which explores how clinicians around the world help those affected by trauma.
